Tour to Highlight Civil War Manassas - April 22 at 2PM
Tour to Highlight Civil War Manassas
April 22, 2 p.m.
The very Manassas sidewalks and streets where commuters, residents and visitors tread now cover an area once teeming with thousands of soldiers preparing for war. An April 22 Civil War Trails Old Town Walking Tour, sponsored by the Manassas Museum, offers visitors a chance to travel back 150 years and glimpse a community caught in the grip of war.
The 2 p.m. tour promises a walking narrative of what the area looked like during the Civil War, and will follow signs on the popular state-wide Civil War Trail. The tour will emphasize earthwork construction in Old Town, how the railroad was used during the war for military purposes, life in area military camps, raids on military stores, and the landscape that remained after forces withdrew.
Tickets for the tour are $15 and advance tickets are required. Tickets are nonrefundable, unless the event is cancelled by the museum. The rain date is April 29. Call 703-368-1873 or visit www.manassasmuseum.org to purchase tickets.
