Area 911 Phone Systems Working Again

Area 911 service is reportedly operational once more after Friday night's storm and subsequent outages.

Area 911 service is reportedly operational once more after Friday night's storm and subsequent outages prompted the county's Emergency Operations  Center (EOC) to go into partial activation mode.

Manassas City Police Sergeant Eddie Rivera said Monday that the  disabled  city 911 phone system had been restored to normal functionality. Citizens are being advised to call Manassas City Public Works at 703-257-8353 for downed power lines and fallen trees.

Prince William County's 911 service is also operational once more.

"I just called dispatch and 911 service is back up," said Marcia Whaley with the PWC Police Department in an email. "I was informed they are now able to receive 911 phone calls."

EOC officials dealt with difficulties linked to the failure of the Verizon's mobile and landline services until the county’s 911 dispatch service was completely back online and operational. During the outages, the EOC worked hard to make sure residents had an  alternate number for reaching emergency officials.
