BJ’s Wholesale Club has opened in Gainesville and will be celebrating the newest Virginia location with a grand opening event this weekend.

The 80,000 sq. ft. club is located at the Promenade at Virginia Gateway Town Center at 5100 Wellington Road, and offers significant savings on everything from groceries to clothes and electronics.

BJ’s will host a grand opening celebration this weekend Saturday January 28 and Sunday January 29 for both members and non-members.  The public will be able to sample a variety of food and beverages and visit with balloon artists and face painters.

The new club is dedicated to giving back to the local community through various programs, the release said.

The club has partnered with the G. Tyler Elementary School for its Adopt-a-School program. The school will receive a donation to enhance educational programs and curriculum objectives, a shopping cart full of wish list items and a free BJ’s membership.

BJ’s will also partner with and provide donations to The Transitional Housing Barn, Inc., which provides temporary housing and supportive services for women and children, and SERVE of Northern Virginia Family Service to help individuals and families achieve self-sufficiency.

The Gainesville location will also participate in BJ’s Feeding Communities program, which will help those in the community who suffer from hunger by providing excess produce, meat and fish to the Capital Area Food Bank, and unsold bakery items will be donated to SERVE and the House of Mercy on a weekly basis.

“BJ’s is excited to open in Gainesville, and we look forward to serving this community” said Joe Garrett, general manager of BJ’s Wholesale Club in Gainesville. “Not only will area residents now have an even more convenient location to satisfy all their shopping needs, but we are eager to establish a strong relationship with the community and are honored to partner with the G. Tyler Elementary School, The Barn and SERVE."
