Caribou Coffee in Bristow to Become Peet's Coffee & Tea

The company has decided to shutter some locations and convert others.

Caribou Coffee, the caffeine mecca for Bristow residents, especially those living in the Braemar communities of western Prince William County, will become a Peet's Coffee & Tea in March, company officials announced this spring.

The coffee shop, nestled in the corner of the Safeway shopping plaza on Sudley Manor Drive at Linton Hall Road, was spared from closure by company officials, who shuttered 80 under-performing stores this spring.

Caribou Coffee CEO Mike Taffersfield said another 88 stores, including the Sudley Manor Road location, would be converted into Peet's Coffee & Tea locations. The chain was founded in Berkeley, Calif. in the 1960s.

" ... Going forward, Caribou Coffee will be made up of 468 locations across Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Western Wisconsin, Iowa, Kansas, North Carolina, Denver and 10 international markets, Taffersfield said. "While the decisions we've made have been difficult for our team in Minneapolis, as well as our team members across the country and our guess and fans everywhere, we are working to make this transition as seamless as possible for the Caribou community."

The decisions made are what best position the company for long-term growth, company officials said.
