Chamber Program Provides School Supplies for 175 Kids
Another charitable program will launch on Sept. 19 to provide children with warm clothing.
Through its annual “Tools for Schools” supply drive; the Prince William Chamber of Commerce collected “hundreds of binders, backpacks and glue sticks” for children in the area.
Area businesses and residents came together, according to the Chamber, and the supplies were distributed to children in need through ACTS, the Lake Ridge Rotary, Northern Virginia Family Services-SERVE and the Salvation Army of Prince William.
"We are very grateful for the school supplies provided to us by the Prince William Chamber and its members. It is a big help for the 175 kids that we are providing for this year,” said Salvation Army of Prince William Captain George Hackbarth in a release. “Without Chamber support we would not have been able to help as many children. Every parent that has come in has been so thankful; it is a big financial help.”
On Sept. 19 the Chamber will launch “Winter Warm-UP,” an online clothing drive.
According to the Chamber, “Kits” of warm clothing can be purchased at http://www.pwchamber.org; the Chamber’s Education Committee will distribute them to Title I schools in the region.
