City Parks Get Upgrades

City highlights new dugouts at Jennie Dean Park and other work to spruce up area recreational parks this summer.

Some City of Manassas parks have received repairs and replacements.

Two fields at Jennie Dean Park fields now have new dugouts with enclosed fencing and two benches. The dugouts provide teams with an area to store their equipment and seating for the entire team, the city said in a press release issued last week.

Jennie Dean Park is home to the Manassas Militia, who won the Future State Prospects Baseball League 13U Championship White Division, and the recent upgrades are just one of the many coming to city sporting fields, the release said.

The city has also applied a a fresh coat of paint, repaired fences and replaced the nets at multiple public tennis courts at Osbourn High School, Metz Middle School, Round Elementary School, Cavalry Run Park, Jennie Dean Park and Stonewall Park.

Other City of Manassas parks that received repairs and replacements were Byrd Park, Kinsley Mill Park and E. G. Smith Ball Field Complex, which is home to the Greater Manassas Baseball League that recently hosted the Virginia Babe Ruth state tournament

Byrd Park and Kinsley Mill Park have fence- in hard top surfaces great for roller blades and skateboards.

All of these projects were completed under the City of Manassas Capital Improvement Plan, the release said.
