Crime: Rock Thrown at Police Cruiser; Man Pulls Gun on Couple

Incidents reported by police in Manassas last week.

 

Rock Thrown at Police Cruiser

Police in Manassas are investigating after an on-duty officer's cruiser was struck by a rock Friday.

Manassas City Police Sergeant Eddie Rivera  said a city officer was monitoring a  was monitoring traffic in the 9700 block of Aspen Place just after midnight Friday when someone struck his vehicle with a rock, causing damage to the vehicle’s trunk. 

An investigation has revealed that the landscaping rock came from a nearby front yard. 

Rivera said an unknown male was observed videotaping the officer as he was checking the damage to his cruiser, but no suspects were located.

Police continue to investigate. 

 

Brandishing

Manassas City Police officers were called to the area of Hastings Drive near Peachwood Road on July 3 around 10:15 p.m. after a man and his wife walking in the area reported being approached by a person with a gun.

The man told officers that he and his wife were walking on Hastings Road when a Hispanic male, driving a burgundy Chrysler Sebring, pulled up to them and started talking to his wife.

The suspect displayed his firearm when confronted by the victim before driving off towards Dumfries Road.

This is an ongoing investigation.

Oh the joy... Nice old Manassas known for its small personable down town area and manacured lawns along Grant Ave. The sweet smell of history. All replaced with the reality of an unsafe, stale and growing trend of violence and uncertainty. I just love Manassas --- Don't you?
