No injuries were reported in the fire.
Prince William firefighters are investigating a fire that broke out Tuesday afternoon in the Lake Jackson area of Prince William County, PWC Battalion Chief Curtis J. Brodie said.
It happened around 4 p.m. at a single-family house on the 8400 block of Piney Avenue just off Dumfries Road where fire and rescue units found a working fire in the basement, Brodie said.
Firefighters attacked the fire and brought it under control, but remained on the scene for about an hour, Brodie said.
Prince William County fire marshals later arrived to determine a cause of the fire, he added. The cause remains under investigation.
No firefighters or residents were injured.
