A Manassas fire department auxiliary, as well as two Manassas businesses worked to raise money to help pay for the funeral of a 16-year-old Manassas boy who died this month of flu complications.
Joshua "Josh" Tyler Long's funeral is scheduled for Tuesday, but his family doesn't have the money to pay for the service, according to a post on the Lake Jackson Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary Facebook page.
The department started a collection jar and raffled off a basket on Friday to raise money for the Long family.
Mackey's American Pub in Old Town Manassas hosted a fundraiser from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday for the teen's family.
His family will receive friends on Monday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Pierce Funeral Home at 9609 Center St. in Manassas.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, at 1 p.m at the Manassas Baptist Church at 8800 Sudley Rd. in Manassas.
Joshua will be laid to rest at Stonewall Memory Gardens.
