Local Role Models Host Monthly 'Shop Talk'
Members discuss a variety of topics such as; leadership, self esteem, conflict resolution, college preparation, interviewing skills and much more.
Local role models Jasmine "Jaz" Mitchell and Jeffery "Jeff" Johnson were recently noted for their weekly “Spirits & Lyrics” event in Old Town Manassas, which has become the longest, most consecutive spoken word poetry event in the Commonwealth.
Mitchell owns Jaz Cutz in Old Town and Johnson runs Silent Treatment Entertainment.
The duo came together a few years ago alongside Julian Purvis, Anthony Dodson, Maurice Hammond and Gil Dussek all with the same goal, to do tremendous things and make a difference in their surrounding communities.
Along with Spirits & Lyrics, Jaz and Jeff are also being recognized for their commitment to helping the community by mentoring, tutoring and providing positive advice to young men. These gatherings are better known as "Shop Talk" and take place the first Monday of every month at Jaz Cutz Barber Shop and Salon, located at 9427 Main St in Manassas. There they discuss a variety of topics such as; leadership, self esteem, conflict resolution, college preparation, interviewing skills and much more.
Every quarter Shop Talk members also visit one local church to attend a service and also have committed to volunteering their time with other local nonprofit
organizations, including, but not limited too, Habitat for Humanity and SERVE
Family Shelter.
The Silent Treatment family truly has the community in mind in everything
that they do and they are nothing short of humble. For more information
