Manassas Woman Accused of Illegally Selling Guns

A Manassas woman was indicted by a federal grand jury Thursday on charges of illegally selling guns—including one which allegedly ended up in the hands of a drug trafficker.

Kimberly Yvette Dinkins allegedly bought over 25 guns during a one-month period, and illegally sold all of them within 16 days of purchase, according to an affidavit filed by an ATF agent in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. One of the guns, which Dinkins purchased at the Nation's Gun Show in Chantilly on Nov. 17, ended up in the hands of a suspected narcotics trafficker just 13 days later in Prince George's County, Md. 

“Kimberly Dinkins is accused of purchasing a high volume of handguns in 15 days, at least one of which made it into the hands of a suspected drug trafficker,” U.S. Attorney Neil MacBride said in a press release. “Illegal gun dealing is a serious crime, and we applaud the ATF for their quick work in putting this case together.” 

Dinkins allegedly gave conflicting explanations to agents as to why she wanted so many guns. During another interview, she told an agent all of the guns were sold, though some were still in her possession. 

Dinkins remains in custody and is charged with dealing firearms without a license and making a materially false statement. The charges carry a maximum penalty of five years in prison, if she is convicted.
