The right lane of Route 234 (Dumfries Road) southbound at Country Club Drive in Dumfries near Interstate 95 closed to traffic until December on Thursday, according to information released this month by the Virginia Department of Transportation.

Engineers expect the lane to remain close until mid-December while crews construct a shared-use path and a retaining wall in the area.

Two of the three travel lanes in this area will remain open during peak hours, VDOT officials said.
