Osbourn Runs Away Late to Beat Battlefield

The Osbourn boys basketball team beat Battlefield on Friday night to remain undefeated.

The Osbourn Eagles boys basketball team played host to Battlefield on Friday night in a district match-up.

The Eagles came into the game with a perfect 10-0 record on the season while Battlefield was looking to end that streak.

Battlefield jumped out to an early first quarter lead, but the Eagles  battled back and went on a 35-12 run in the first half.

Osbourn was getting great plays on offensive from several players, making it extremely difficult for the opponent to defend.

Osbourn led by 18 in the third quarter, but the Bobcats had other plans and turned up the intensity on defense and got some easy baskets. Osbourn's lead was cut to six.

Emotions were running high in the fourth quarter; everyone was waiting to see if Battlefield could keep the momentum.

But the Eagles were too much for the Bobcats who were outscored 27-14 in the final period, giving Osbourn a 76-57 victory.

Osbourn was lead in the game by Robert Carter who scored 18 points and pulled down seven rebounds. Corey Bedford was the second leading scorer with 15. Raphael Edwards continued his strong play as he notched another double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Cedrick Delaney also scored in double figures with 11 points.

With the victory, Osbourn improves their record to 11-0 and continues to build momentum as the season goes on. The Eagles will be back in action on Saturday for a rare weekend game as they take on Potomac Falls. The game will be held at Osbourn and tip-off is scheduled for 7pm.

I thought that Cedrick led all scorers with 21 points.

Robin-

I know, these guys are amazing. Don't know how they do it and keep up with their school work at the same time. Way to go guys! I hope younger boys and girls see how hard they work and aspire to do the same!
