Police Report More Items Stolen from Cars
Manassas City Police report stereo and GPS unit stolen from vehicles and remind residents to remove valuable items from and secure their vehicles.
Manassas City Police are investigating two separate cases of larcenies to vehicles that occurred sometime over the weekend.
Officers first responded to the 9200 block of Thornwood Lane, where a victim told officers that sometime between Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning, someone entered his unlocked 1995 BMW and stole a radio. The radio was valued at approximately $220.
The second incident was reported on Vinnia Court. The victim told officers that sometime between Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning, someone entered his unlocked 2005 Toyota and stole a Garmin GPS. The GPS was valued at approximately $100.
Residents are reminded not to leave anything of value inside their vehicles and to always keep their vehicles locked.
Both investigations are ongoing, police said. Anyone with information should call Manassas City Crime Solvers on their 24-hour confidential tip line at (703) 330-0330. A cash reward up to $1,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest in these cases.

It's kind of hard to feel bad when people keep making themselves easy targets. Takes one second to lock your car. Yes, they still might break in but generally they just walk checking to find vehicles that are unlocked. Or just simply take valuables out every day if you don't want to lock it.

You are correct, Wayne! Everyone needs to be locking their vehicles/removing valuables. I remember last year people were leaving their vehicles running/keys in unlocked vehicles outside local 7-11s while they ran into the store real quick and people were getting their cars stolen.
