Seton High Named a Top Catholic School in the U.S.

Seton High School in Manassas has been named one of the top 50 Catholic high schools in the country, its staff announced this month.

Seton received the honor for the the 2011-2012 school year, making it the second time in five years Seton achieved the honor from the Cardinal Newman Society.  It is the only two-time winner in the Commonwealth, according to a press release issued by the school.

The school was also named in the Cardinal Newman Society Top 50 Honor Roll Competition.

Neither competition designates an exact numerical ranking for the top 50.

The honor roll competition recognizes schools in the U.S. for overall excellence in academics, Catholic identity and civic education.
“This selection is truly a reflection of the commitment of our parents, students, faculty and staff,” said Anne Carroll, Seton High founder and director. “I am gratified Seton has been chosen once again for this prestigious honor. It affirms we are doing our job.”

The school, which opened in 1975, is operated by Catholic laymen and women as an accredited private co-educational Catholic junior and senior high school.

Seton's 350 students come from all over Northern Virginia to study at the school.

Several of its past students have gone on to participate in the International Science Fair and have graduated as National Merit scholarship winners.
