Trial Set for Woman Accused of Murder, Child Abuse
Tyesha Green, of Manassas, will face a murder trial in 2013 for the murder of her three-month-old baby.
A Manassas woman will go on trial next spring for the 2010 death of her three-month-old baby boy.
Tyesha Green's two-day jury trial is set for March 12 and 13, 2013. A grand jury indicted Green in August for one count of felony murder, two counts of child neglect, and one count of child cruelty. The Manassas resident was released on bond in August.
Police arrested Green in March 2012, after a nearly two-year investigation into the death of the son. According to police reports, Green told police she was sleeping in the same bed with the baby on a night in May 2010, when she awoke to find the baby unresponsive.
Police determined during their investigation that Green, who at the time resided on the 4500 block of Kingsley Road in Dale City, had smoked marijuana and drank alcohol before going to bed. Police said in March of this year that they found she provided "poor prenatal care, no well child care, no follow-up treatment for an infection...and an unsafe sleeping environment."
