Weekend Planner: Drive-thru Nativity, Animal Shelter Open House

Hit the streets this weekend for some winter fun.

 

Go through the Drive-Thru Nativity

Where/When: Manassas St. Thomas United Methodist Church; Saturday, December 10; 5:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

Why Go: To celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. View the live exhibit with live characters from the comfort of your car, or take a walk outside along the path of displays.

Pricing: Free

 

Prince William Animal Shelter Open House

Where/When: Prince William Animal Shelter; Saturday, December 10; 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Why Go:  Tour the shelter and watch the tree lighting while you visit Santa and enjoy refreshments. Rabies vaccinations and a microchip clinic will be given from 2:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Pricing: Free, but donations of cat and dog food are encouraged.

 

All you can eat pancakes!

Where/When: Park West Lions Club Community Center; Saturday, December 10; 8:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

Why Go: Get your feast on with Santa and eat pancakes, sausage, eggs, biscuits and more. Toys for Tots will be collected.

Pricing: $6 for adults and $3 for children 6-12 in advance; $7.50 and $3.50 at the doore; kids under 5 are free.

 

Stock up on citrus fruit

Where/When: Lions Park; Friday, December 9; 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Why Go: Just because it's winter doesn't mean you can't enjoy your favorite fruit. Stock up on naval oranges, tangelos and pink grapefruit. Pre-orders accepted.

Pricing: Free to visit; call 703-365-2527 to place orders or for more information.

Where/When: Osbourn Park High School; Friday, December 9; 6:00 p.m.

Why Go: Watch these rivals battle it out on Friday night as they go head to head in the chill of winter.
