The Manassas Art Guild continues its "Artist of the Month" series with the works of two of its members. Now through mid-February, be prepared to laugh along with the subtle satire of artist Vikram Dayal, who paints "light-hearted topics using a bright palette and a bold brush stroke." The paintings may look simple at first, but take a closer look and you'll find it's not quite what it seems. Says Vikram: "Laugh at it, ridicule it, curse it, burn it, throw it, just please don't ignore it!"

Later in February, the featured artist will be Selina Farmer, whose work has been described as "a haunting exploration of emotion" and "culturally stimulating." Much of her work evokes childlike wonder, and most is done in homage to her two-year old daughter Mazzy, who died in 2004. "Mazzy is with me in each and every creation," says Selina; "her love and spirit will live on through my work."

Works by the Artist of the Month may be found at the following locations in Old Town Manassas: Ashby Jewelers, City Square Cafe, Creative Brush Studio, Echoes-The Museum Store, Opera House Gourmet, Persnickety Cakes, Simply Sweet on Main, The Things I Love and Whimsical Galerie.
