Stories in Stone: Twilight Manassas City Cemetery Tour - May 19
9317 Center St, Manassas, VA | Get Directions »
$15.00
It is the final resting place of a Congressional Medal of Honor winner, members of the famed Civil War Prince William Cavalry, and many prominent citizens who helped shape the early years of Manassas.
Their stories, and many more, will come to life during a Manassas Museum guided tour through the Manassas Confederate Cemetery on May 19 at 6:30 p.m. The tour will feature costumed interpreters who will lead visitors by lantern through the cemetery and the adjacent Confederate Cemetery, which was begun after the Civil War to hold soldiers who had been buried nearby.
The Confederate Cemetery, established by the Ladies Memorial Association of Manassas, is now owned and maintained by the United Daughters of the Confederacy, Manassas Chapter.
The Stories in Stone, Twilight Manassas City Cemetery Tour will also answer questions for those who have ever wondered about the prominent brownstone Confederate Memorial, or the reburial of Civil War soldiers.
Tickets for the tour are $15 and advance tickets are required. Those on tour will meet at the cemetery, 9317 Center Street, and may park at Whitt’s Harley Davidson, 9321 Center St. (next to the cemetery). Tickets are nonrefundable, unless the event is cancelled by the museum. Call 703-368-1873 or visit www.manassasmuseum.org to purchase tickets.
