 ttist Thomas Meehan describe Annie as &ldquo\;a metaphorical figure stan
 ding for innate decency\, courage and optimism in the face of hard times
 \, pessimism and despair.&rdquo\; Set in December of 1933\, the height o
 f the Great Depression\, Annie follows the new adventure of Little Orpha
 n Annie\, an 11 year old\, whose &ldquo\;hard-knock life&rdquo\; turns i
 nto a dream come true when Oliver Warbucks\, the billionaire\, invites h
 er to live with him for Christmas. This family show is full of catchy mu
 sic and dance\, new- found friendships\, a friendly puppy\, and the less
 on that life is never truly complete without family.&nbsp\;\nNow in its 
 sixteenth season\, the Saint Bernadette Summer Theatre Program draws tal
 ented high school students from the DC metropolitan area every summer.&n
 bsp\; The program seeks to provide a safe\, supporting environment for y
 oung people to showcase their talent and grow in fellowship and communit
 y.&nbsp\; It is run by a full volunteer staff\, many of whom were once t
 hemselves involved with the program as students.&nbsp\; Summers with STP
 \, as it is familiarly known\, is about community first and show second.
  A love of performance is just one uniting characteristic that bonds new
  friends together.&nbsp\;
