Chef Luigi Diotaiuti and Chef Amy Riolo Signing Copies of The Al Tiramisu Restaurant Cookbook at Local Brunch

The two chefs will also talk about their 10-night culinary cruise at event hosted by Cruise Holidays of Alexandria.

 

Washington, DC - - Chef Luigi Diotaiuti, owner of Al Tiramisu Restaurant, and Chef Amy Riolo, co-author with Chef Luigi of The Al Tiramisu Restaurant Cookbook, will be signing copies of their new book at a brunch on February 1 from Noon to 2:00 p.m. at Al Tiramisu Restaurant, 2014 P Street, NW.  Tickets are $20.00 per person.

Luigi and Amy will the story behind creating The Al Tiramisu Restaurant Cookbook and share their personal insights and inspirations behind their culinary cruise to Istanbul, Athens & Greek Isles in October 2014. The Al Tiramisu Restaurant Cookbook: An Elevated Approach to Authentic Italian Cuisine, is a collection of 100 of the restaurant’s most popular recipes.  The book is also part culinary memoir taking readers from Chef Luigi’s birthplace in Basilicata, Italy, to kitchens in Sardinia, Paris, Venice, Tuscany and ultimately Washington DC.  Each chapter is devoted to a distinct phase in the chef’s career and features recipes that can create a complete menu.  The book went on sale at the restaurant in late December and can also be purchased on their website, www.AlTiramisu.com.

 

The Two Chefs culinary cruise is a unique 10-night culinary journey through the Ottoman Empire, that Luigi and Amy will host October 19-29, 2014.  The chefs, along with local English-speaking guides, will lead guests through the ancient streets of Istanbul, offering historical insights with a culinary twist.  Guests will visit the city’s markets, take part in a Baklava workshop, go to the historical places where many of Turkey’s most popular foods originated, and then get personal, hands-on cooking lessons on the region’s cuisines by the chefs themselves.  Following 3-days in Istanbul, guests will board the Riviera, Oceania Cruises new cruise ship, for a 7-night luxury cruise of the Greek Isles.

Award winning chef, author, and instructor duo, Amy Riolo and Luigi Diotaiuti bonded over their insatiable appetite for cuisine, culture, and travel.  They never fail to impress international guests with healthy doses of fun, health, technique, and history in the kitchen. Whether they’re lecturing or pairing wines for cultural foundations, conducting demos at Cooking Expos, Farmers’ Markets, teaching area school children how to cook, or conducting classes in Luigi’s restaurant –Al Tiramisu– the pair create a comfortable and fun atmosphere which inspires and empowers their audience.

 

In 2013, Amy and Luigi released The Al Tiramisu Restaurant Cookbook: An Elevated Approach to Authentic Italian Cuisine based on Luigi’s restaurant. They also premiered a documentary film entitled The Beauty of Basilicata Dinner at the James Beard Foundation based on a dinner that Luigi created in New York earlier that year. To promote their commitment to reclaiming culinary traditions on the verge of extinction, Amy and Luigi will lead a discussion on Traditional Pasta and Cheese Making traditions in February 2014 for the Culinary Historians of Washington. In March, they will conduct a Goodness of Goat lecture and demonstration at the International Association of Culinary Professionals annual conference. They are currently preparing to lead the Two Chefs Culinary Cruise from Athens to Istanbul & The Greek Isles in October 2014 which will include culinary history tours, wine tastings, cooking classes, and a Chef’s Table dinner, all of which will be filmed. The duo also just completed filming a demo for their upcoming television series, Two to Travel.
