‘Celebrate Safe Communities’ Hosts Safety Seat Checks, Community Shredding

The police department's Crime Prevention Unit is hosting a community event in observance of Crime Prevention Month.

Come out to the Target at 9900 Sowder Village Sq. in Manassas Saturday for the Prince William County Police Department’s “Celebrate Safe Communities” event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. 

According to a news release from the department, highlights include community shredding (five boxes per person maximum), a child safety seat checks, a classic police car, fire trucks, a U.S. Customs and Border Protection helicopter, and face painting.

Displays and booths will also be presented by the Police Department, the Animal Shelter, the Fire and Rescue Department, the Prince William Crime Prevention Council, Prince William County Crime Solvers, Law Enforcement Explorer Post 1268, the American Red Cross, M.A.D.D., Heat, and a special appearance by McGruff the Crime Dog.

The event is free and open to the public.
