Get Out: Walk for Multiple Sclerosis

Things to do and places to go this weekend.

Lots of good stuff is happening this weekend in Old Town and around the Manassas area.

  1. Take a beginner’s quilt class!
    Where/When: Aurora Quilts in Old Town Manassas; Saturday, April 9, 2011; 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
    Why Go: Aurora Quilts is newly opened with lots to do. If you love to be creative, spend your Saturday checking out what this new hot spot is all about. Make a 20 block quilt, which is drawn from the Smithsonian website.
    Pricing: $45 plus supplies
  2. Walk for MS.
    Where/When
    : Starts at the Harris Pavilion in Old Town Manassas; Saturday, April 9, 2011, 7:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
    Why Go: If you or someone you know has MS, or if you're interested in supporting those who do—come out to the National Capital Chapter Manassas-area walk. It’s 5 miles, but worth every step. The MS Society will provide participants with water! It’s a great cause,  bringing communities together across the northern Virginia region. Volunteers are needed for the event.
    Pricing: There is no fee to walk, but dontations are encouraged.
  3. Attend a free homebuyer’s seminar.
    Where/When: Strayer University in Woodbridge; Saturday, April 9, 2011, 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
    Why Go: Looking to buy a home? Bob Hummer can help you out. Join his free monthly seminar on buying foreclosed and short sale homes, to get information on personal budgeting and more. Receive a free credit report, closing cost discounts and reference material.
    Pricing: Free!
  4. Enjoy some yummy prime rib.
    Where/When: Dak’s Grill in Woodbridge; Saturday, April 9, 2011; 11:30 a.m. – 11:00 p.m.
    Why Go: Go to the place where “everybody knows your name.” Enjoy a New York strip steak, dirty chicken and linguine or luscious pork ribs.
    Pricing: See their menu. Prime Rib only served during dinner time.
  5. Take a French cooking class
    Where/When: Reston Town Center; Saturday, April 9, 2011; 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
    Why Go: Learn how to cook French! Class includes a three-course lunch with wine varietals and a recipe booklet.
    Pricing: $50 per person.
