Heat Brings On Code Orange Air Quality Alert

Current weather conditions have prompted a code orange air quality alert and heat advisory for region.

A heat advisory is in effect for the region until 8 p.m. Wednesday and the current weather conditions have also prompted a code orange air quality alert.

A code orange alert means air pollution concentrations within the region may become unhealthy for sensitive groups to include children, the elderly and those who may suffer from asthma, heart disease or other lung diseases, according to the National Weather Service.

Wednesday will be partly sunny, with a high near 96 with heat index values as high as 103.

The most important thing to remember, according to the National Weather Service, is to drink plenty of fluids and take frequent breaks from the heat if you have to be outside by going inside or finding a shaded area.
