Thank You, Veterans

The third annual Greater Manassas Veterans Day Parade took place Saturday.

The Manassas The theme of this year's parade was the Vietnam War and the grand marshalls chosen for the event were all highly-decorated Vietnam War veterans.

According to VFW VA Post 7589 Commander Ron Link, the Vietnam War veterans never had a welcome home ceremony at the end of the war, so at the end of Saturday's parade route, a 'Welcome Home' community event took place at the Harris Pavilion.

Most events that recognize and celebrate our veterans occur on Memorial Day, with very few taking place on Veterans Day.

"The unfortunate part is that we only recognize the veterans twice a year...but they should be recognized every year..." Link said.
