Shopping with Kids During an Earthquake

Local blogger and writer Kristine Meldrum Denholm was in a Manassas Wal-mart with her three kids when the earthquake struck Tuesday.

Local blogger and writer Kristine Meldrum Denholm was shopping at the Manassas Mall Wal-mart with her three kids Tuesday shopping for dog food and back-to-school items when the 5.8 magnitude earthquake struck our region. 

Kristine recalls the experience in a blog post titled, "Life in DC/Northern Virginia: My really fantastical earthquake story!"

The first thing she noticed was a loud roar and then everything started shaking.

"The people in my aisle all looked at each other...we froze..like 'this is an earthquake isn't it,'" she recalled.

Kristine then huddled the kids because they  didnt know what to do. Things were falling off shelves.
