Manassas Museum Extends Hours for Summer

There’s good news for those looking for a chance to see the many exhibits and artifacts commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Civil War this year at the .

The museum has announced it will be open on Mondays for the summer "to accommodate a growing number of seasonal visitors," according to a press release issued by the museum.

That's right; the museum will be open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Memorial day until Labor Day 2011. After Labor Day the museum will return to regular business hours, closing on Mondays except on federal holidays.

The museum features permanent and temporary exhibits interpreting Northern Virginia Piedmont history and the Civil War, the release said.

Currently at the museum is the exhibit, ‘ They Rode from Brentsville: The Prince William Cavalry,’ which will be open through the Fourth of July.

 Also at the museum visitors can find  ‘Echoes,’ the museum store, which offers a variety of distinctive gifts with a local flair and official Sesquicentennial of the Civil War commemorative items.

Adult admission to the museum is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and children, and is free for children under six. The museum is also open free to Manassas city residents on Sundays and is located at 9101 Prince William Street in Old Town, directly across from the VRE station.
