Manassas City Public Schools 2013-2014 Calendar, School Day Start Times

The Manassas school division is implementing new school day start times beginning Sept. 3.

Most Manassas students will be heading back to school on Sept. 3. Kindergarteners and pre-Kindergarten students will head back on Sept. 4. 

Parents should keep in mind that schools in the Manassas have new school day start times that are different from the ones in years past. 

Here are the changes: 

Osbourn High School: 

Regular start and dismissal times are 7:20 a.m. and 2:20 p.m.

Early dismissial is at 11:20 a.m and late start time is 9:20 a.m

Metz Middle School:

Regular start and dismissal times are 7:30 a.m. and 2:45 p.m.

Early dismissal is at 11:50 a.m. and late start time is 9:30 a.m

Baldwin & Weems Elementary Schools:
Regular start and dismissal times are 7:55 a.m. and 3:10 p.m.

Early dismissal is 12:20 p.m. and late start time is 9:55 a.m.

Dean, Haydon, & Round Elementary Schools:

Regular start and dismissal times are 8:20 a.m. and 3:35 p.m.

Early dismissal is at 12:50 p.m. and late start time is 10:20 a.m.

Mayfield Intermediate School: 

Regular start and dismissal times are 8:50 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Early dismissal is at 1:20 p.m. and late start time is 10:50 a.m.

Administrators said the new schedule saves money and increases student achievement, especially for the younger ones because more time is spent learning.

The schedule changes were prompted by decreased funding from the state. Less money meant school administrations had to execute a cost reduction in the division's transportation, prompting a change in school and bus schedules.
