Barnes & Noble to Close More Stores

The status of Sudley Road site is not clear.

Barnes & Noble is considering closing up to one-third of its storefronts in the next 10 years, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal on Monday.

The fate of the Manassas B&N on Sudley Road isn't known. B&N has not released a list of the locations that will close in the coming decade. It is the only Barnes and Noble location in Prince William County.

Barnes & Noble is closing its Reston location at The Spectrum, Reston Patch has reported. That closure was announced in late 2012 and it is not related to the upcoming round of retail location closures. A Container Store will be moving into the space being vacated by the bookstore.

Would you be sad if the the local Barnes & Noble sites closed? Have you moved most of your book purchases to online, your e-reader or iPad? Tell us in the comments!

I get all of my books from the local library. I have to wait sometimes for the best sellers but it is much less expensive than purchasing the book. I have to wait for the book to become available but it is much less expensive than purchasing the book.

I have been bringing my son to the Sudley location since he was 4 years old. He has grown up there and has found an appreciation for books there. We have enjoyed story time with Ms. sarah, played with Thomas trains, read books, and enjoy a treat t the café every visit. My son is now in middle school, but I meet my friend there every week for coffee and enjoy the new books and other goodies. I do use the library & my nooks, but still love going to the book store and getting books that I just cannot wait for or finding that gret gift for my book lover friends.

How come the article isn't talking about any of the stores that Barnes & Noble are opening or the fact that some of the stores that are closing is due to a leasing issues and not their sales? They just opened a store in Fredricksburg and they plan on opening 4 more test stores within the next year. I do believe someone should get their facts straight before scaring the public with only half the information.

Why would you get scared about Barnes and Noble closing? Aside from ordering from a number of online stores, there are still other book stores out there. Same book, maybe a different price.
