Do You Want VRE Service on July 4?

Take the VRE's July 4 service survey and let the agency know what you think.

The Virginia Railway Express is considering bringing back its "firecracker trains" to provide service on July 4, 2014.

The VRE didn't run on Independence Day this year, but train officials said this week they are considering making a change after receiving several requests for service on the holiday.

The District and Arlington are popular destinations on the July 4 holiday because of cities' patriotic displays and fireworks shows.

If service is reinstated, the ride would require a special ticket—normal VRE tickets would not be accepted.

To get an idea of how many people are interested in the firecracker trains, the VRE is collecting feedback through an online survey.
