Your Best Suggestions for Old Target Location in Manassas

We asked and you told us what you would like to see in the former Target in the Manassas Mall.

Big box juggernaut Target packed up and left the Manassas Mall earlier this year and when we asked what should take its place, you readers sounded out.

Here are five of the best comments posted under that April 14 Visions for Vacancies article.

(There were lots of great comments, by the way, not just five.)

"Initially I thought it would be nice to bring in a high-end retailer (i.e. Lord & Taylor) however when the Mall management chose to put a Wal-Mart at the mall that will forever kill any chance of a high-end retailer seriously considering coming to Manassas Mall. Without a big retailer draw, smaller and nicer stores will not come to our little "country" mall. So I agree with Doug, maybe a movie theater might help."

"how bout a gym? it can provide people who can later go to sears or wallmart for cloths, or food court for food, or the other stores around it, we even have a gnc that lifter or people who lift can go too....if we can have our golds gym, planet fitness , and fitness 19 full....wouldn't that give the others stores in the mall more chance of profit? because people can have easy accesibility to stores around."

"I'd love to see mixed-use in the mall space. That mall has been dying for years, and it's not going to recover as a standard mall, I don't think; there's too much around to compete with it--including the Wal-Mart it was silly enough to allow to come in, which will dominate other big-box stores that try to occupy the same space. Apartments would be interesting. I know nothing about practicality or zoning, but could part of the mall be demolished to create green space? I've been to European cities that have easily-accessible parks throughout their interiors, and it really makes them feel more liveable."

"I would LOVE to have a Wegman's."

"I agree with Jane, we need a Hobby Lobby! This weekend my husband went to shop at two old hobby stores we used to go to - and they are gone."

Missed the convo, but have something to say about the former Target parcel? No worries, post your comment below.
