American Disposal Services Announces Anna Wilkinson as Director of Public Relations

MANASSAS, VA, June 17, 2014 – American Disposal Services is proud to announce Anna Wilkinson as the Director of Public Relations. Before this position, Ms. Wilkinson acted as the Public Relations Specialist for the company.

During her year as American’s Public Relations Specialist, she was responsible for 21 articles and features published about American Disposal and Recycling in various media outlets and publications throughout the greater Washington metropolitan area; as well as in national waste, recycling and environmental specific publications. 

Articles have been published in: The Washington Business Journal, Prince William Living, Inside NOVA,Fleets and Fuels, The Bull Run Observer, NGT News, Leesburg Today, Waste Age, Resource Recycling, as well as a coveted front page article in The Washington Post.

She also personally contributes to publications on behalf of American, and recently had an article published in Inside Gainesville Magazine, discussing American’s recent changeover from diesel to a full fleet of CNG collection trucks, as well as the benefits of CNG powered vehicles on the environment and community.

During her time as a Public Relations Specialist, Ms. Wilkinson wrote various instrumental internal programs for the company which she manages and trains employees on proper technique and implementation. Including American’s Crisis Preparedness Plan and Customer Appreciation Team, both of which Ms. Wilkinson manages and oversees.

Ms. Wilkinson recently acted as Master of Ceremonies for American’s Ribbon Cutting and Grand Opening of the American Recycling Center and attached Interactive Learning Center, and was instrumental in organizing the event. She regularly speaks on behalf of American Disposal, within the waste and recycling industries and in the community at large.

She implemented, writes and moderates American’s popular blog, The Green Scene, and contributes to American’s ThinkBeforeYouThrow® E-newsletter as well as their corporate newsletter, The Daily Dumpster. She delivers corporate and community presentations on American’s recycling program, ThinkBeforeYouThrow®, and their combined recycling and green cleaning program; GreenStream.

In addition to her above duties, Ms. Wilkinson now manages American’s involvement and sponsorship with the many waste and recycling industry associations of which American is an active member.

Before her work at American Disposal Services, Ms. Wilkinson worked in Public Relations at Hope For The Warriors®, a national nonprofit organization that provides assistance to combat wounded veterans, their families, and the families of those fallen in the line of duty.

Ms. Wilkinson is a 23 year Northern Virginia resident. She graduated cum laude from Marymount University, in Arlington Virginia, with a BA in Communication.
