Area Under Severe Thunderstorm Watch Tonight

Storms could bring gusts, downpours.

Prince William County and surrounding jurisdictions are under a severe thunderstorm watch Friday evening. 

National Weather Service says severe storms could cause damaging winds and heavy rainfall. Storms could make for a hazardous rush-hour commute this afternoon.

The watch was issued at 6:10 p.m. for the Prince William County area and is expected to be in effect until at least 7 p.m. Fairfax City and areas east are reportedly under the watch until 9 p.m.
