The city's successful Hurricane Irene preparedness was also highlighted in an email sent to Manassas Mayor Harry Parrish by a resident:

Since I became a citizen living within the City of Manassas in 2008, I have always been very impressed with the quality of city employees and the dedication to providing only the best service to its residence. This was never more true during the heavy winter weather in 2009 and the cities ability to "keep the lights on" and roads "clear".

More recently, with a recent earthquake followed shortly afterwards with a tropical storm. I awoke this morning at 3AM only to see the storm raging and as I looked out my window, the presence of dozens of public work vehicles working to restore power. I just wanted to personally say I am very proud to be living in the city of Manassas and even more proud of the dedication and quality of those who are a part of our city government and support staff. Please express my sincere "THANK YOU" to everyone for making this such an outstanding community!
