Enterprise Departure Delayed Due to Bad Weather
Forecasts of inclement weather forced officials to delay the space shuttle's departure to New York.
NASA released a statement Friday announcing the postponement of Enterprise's departure to the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum in New York, NY due to bad weather.
According to a Huffington Post report, a spring nor'easter is making its way up the East Coast starting Sunday, expecting to bring several inches of rain and heavy winds and even snow in elevated parts of New York and Pennsylvania. The storm is atypical for April but not uncommon, the report said.
Mounted atop the same Boeing 747 that carried the from Florida to Virginia, the Enterprise was scheduled to leave on Monday morning for New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport.

"To ensure a safe flight for Enterprise and the SCA,” said NASA in a statement, “NASA managers, in consultation with the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum, decided Friday to delay the flight because of inclement weather predicted in both New York and Washington, where the flight will originate.”
The storm is expected to strengthen early Monday morning. The flight is delayed until at least Tuesday, but possibly longer.
