Flash Flood Watch Issued

Rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 inches expected in as many hours could be enough to trigger flash flooding.

The first day of fall will bring more rain to the region.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch beginning Friday morning and lasting through the evening for Manassas and Prince William County.

Periods of heavy rain are expteced during the day and into the early evening. Rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 inches are exptect. Thunderstorms are also in the forecast for Friday, with temperatures being at about 75 degrees.

A Flash Flood watch issue mean conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding of local roadways and waterways, which can be dangerous.

The Washington Post reported earlier this week that the region saw just four sunny days all September.

Lighter periods of rain is expected to stick around through the weekend and into Monday.
