Heat Advisory, Code Orange Air Quality Alert in Effect Tuesday

The good news is the rest of the week will be much more pleasant.

The National Weather Service has issued a code orange air quality alert for Tuesday, June 12th. A heat advisory is also in effect today. Heat index values may reach up to 105 degrees.

The code orange air quality alert means air pollution concentrations in the area could be unhealthy for sensitive groups, including children, people with asthma, heart disease and other lung diseases, and the elderly. The effects of air pollution can be lessened by avoiding exercising outdoors or other strenuous outdoor activity.

The heat advisory is in effect on Tuesday from noon to 8 p.m. Temperatures today may reach of a high of 95 degrees. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. Temperatures for the remainder of the week will be in the mid to upper 80s, providing some relief from the heat.
