Get your palate, your lips and your stomach ready for the Taste of Manassas on Sunday, a brand-new event the organizers hope will become a yearly draw for foodies everywhere.

Right now, 13 Manassas restaurants—including new kids on the old town block Malones and Airfare Cafe—will be at the event which is from noon to 5 p.m. in the Harris Pavilion.

"The goal is to give exposure to all the restauranst of Old Town Manassas," said Miguel Pires of Camellos in Old Town.
"Many people do not realize that we have Portuguese, Italian, cajun creole, Thai, Greek, American, pizza, a New York style deli, a philly tavern, a bakery, great local bars and a coffee shop all in a five block area."

Admission to the event is free of cost, but you'll need a $25 ticket book to get your eat-on. Ticket book prices jump to $35 if purchased the day of the event. Each book has eight tickets and each food, beer and wine "taste" costs one ticket. Purchase tickets here.

As of Thursday, about 750 tickets were sold by the Historic Manassas Resturant Alliance, the group that organizes the event and city's two restaurant weeks.

The alliance is expecting to sell upward of 1,000 tickets, Pires said.
"The event is drawing people from all around the Manassas area, many people are attending from Woodbridge, Gainesville, Centerville and Clifton," he added.

The books are available for purchase until 3 p.m. on Sunday.
There will be music and other entertainment on deck for the event, described by organizers as "a lively street fair."

Dogs and children are welcome, but you have to be human and at least 21 to consume alcohol. No outside food is allowed.
