Manassas Experiencing Light Rain, Low Winds from Irene

Manassas and Prince William County areas expected see low wind gusts and light, consistent rain from Irene.

Manassas and Prince William County areas are expected to experience low impact from the winds of Hurricane Irene as it passes through coastal Virginia overnight.

The National Weather Service forecast indicates wind speeds of 29 to 34 miles per hour with wind gusts up to 41 miles per hour for the area overnight Saturday with these numbers falling heading into Sunday.

The area is expected to see up to three inches of rain by tomorrow morning, according to the NWS. But the new rain totals are adding to already saturated ground from rainy weather earlier in the week and could cause trees to become loose from the ground and topple.
