Poll: New Commuter Lot Opens at Balls Ford Road, I-66

Commuters from western Prince William County and Manassas who use Interstate 66 for their morning drive to work now have a new commuter lot at their disposal that will hopefully make the trip a little faster.

The new $5.9 million, 433-space park-and-ride lot opens on July 8, Virginia Department of Transportation officials said.

Commuters can access the lot from Balls Ford Road via Cushing Road, near I-66 and Prince William Parkway.

The lot's direct on-ramp connection to I-66 is open from 5:30 to 9:30 a.m. to  cars with at least two passengers and buses.

OmniRide buses will provide direct access to the lot's covered bus loop via its Linton Hall Metro Direct route.

Transportation officials said OmniLink buses will begin providing direct service from the new lot to the District later this year.

To support the park-and-ride lot, there is a new traffic signal at Balls Ford and Cushing Roads, a new sidewalk along Cushing Road, more crosswalks, as well as more lighting, benches, lockers and bike racks.
