Community Corner

NTW Backstage Pass Experience w/ MCPD

Each year, the second full week in April is dedicated to the men and women who serve as public safety telecommunicators and help keep communities and first responders safe around the clock.

In honor of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week this April, Manassas City Police Department invites you to attend the Public Safety Communication Center's first Backstage Pass Experience on April 17th!

Meet the men and women who work in the PSCC and find answers to questions like,
- Where does my phone call go when I dial 9-1-1 from a landline or cell phone?
- What happens to 9-1-1 service if the power goes out?
- How much training do telecommunicators need to handle the calls they receive?

A short presentation with light refreshments will begin at 6:30pm, followed by a tour of the MCPD Public Safety Communications Center.  All ages welcome. Please RSVP to Adrienne Helms (703-257-8064 or ahelms@manassasva.gov) by April 16th.

Of course, you don’t need NTW to honor your public safety dispatchers for excellence. You can write them a commendation, mention their “good deed” to a supervisor, or just give them a pat on the back. For more information about NTW, visit www.911dispatch.com.
