Tourney to Benefit Injured Manassas Police Officer is Saturday

Manassas Police Officer Heather Munsterman was hit by a distracted driver on July 13 in Manassas.

The first of many events to benefit an injured Manassas Police officer begins at noon on Saturday.

The Hopes for Heather 3 on 3 Tourney and Shootout will be held at the Manassas Park Boys & Girls Club on Dean Park Drive to benefit Heather Munsterman, who was struck by a car during a traffic stop and suffered a concussion, fractures in her ankle and pelvic areas, and a dislocated shoulder.

The driver of the car that struck the officer is suspected of driving while texting, police said.

Saturday's event is also purposed to encourage people not text and drive and to raise awareness for Virginia's "Move Over, Slow Down" law.

The tourney event is already sold out, but the shootout still has slots available. The cost is $10 per person.  Register for the event here
There will also be a raffle, food and a moon bounce at the event.

There are two more events planned for this month: Aug. 17: Raise the Bar Strength & Conditioning, one hour of intense training. All fitness levels welcome. $20. 8:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.

Aug. 17: "Take the Pledge" at Old Towne Sports Bar from 12 p.m.-6 p.m. 20 percent of food and beverage sales will be donated. Activities include a Corn Hole Tournament, a moon bounce and dunk tanks for kids, silent auction and more.
