Learn How to Sell Your Home Cooking at Farmers' Markets

Smart Markets Inc. is holding a special workshop Dec. 17 for home cooks who would like to sell their goods at farmers' markets.

Smart Markets has always been committed to creating and supporting a small-business incubator for people who want to cook or bake in their homes (or in rented commercial kitchens) to sell at farmers' markets. This month we are sponsoring along with several partners a free workshop for cooks who would like to qualify as market vendors.

The workshop will offer all the information you need to start a local business in Fairfax County, arrange for and pass a kitchen inspection, open a bank account, and obtain insurance, and a few of our vendors will be on hand to share their experiences. There will also be translators on hand to facilitate the experience for ESL attendees.

We hope to make this a yearly event in this area and to enrich our markets with the huge variety of delicious foods from our culturally diverse community.
