Come out to join us for a lovely day at the market this week. This Sunday will be a great day to enjoy lunch al fresco from the Taste of Local food truck. If you have not tried Angelic Beef in your own home, this is a great opportunity to sample Doug Linton’s beef in burgers and other dishes. His ground beef really does make the “best burger ever!” And it shines in the other beef recipes that we have at the Smart Markets tent every week. Check out Taste of Local’s menu.
Shelby will be on hand with her cake of the day and other football-related treats, and Valley View will bring their wonderful breads and pastries.
Tyson Farms will have a full selection of apples and winter veggies, and we will have a great new recipe handout for potatoes all ways from Mark Bittman’s New York Times Magazine column last week.
B&D will bring freshly processed whole chickens and parts and great country eggs. They have plenty of eggs from their free-range laying hens who eat only real, non-GMO food with no added chemicals or toxic substances such as arsenic, which is widely used in chicken feed to promote unnatural growth. They hope to be bringing duck eggs soon, which were listed in the latest Bon Appetit magazine as one of the 25 hot foods trends for 2013. We are so ahead of the curve!
This Sunday for the first time you can see where the new Piney Branch school garden will be planted. The County School folks came to turn it under this past week!
See you at the market!
