Pastor and his wonderful El Ceibo chocolates will not be with us this week, and Uncle Roger and his cookies will be off for several more weeks. However, we are thrilled and pleased that Peggy Fath of Catlett Confections will return to the market this week, and if we treat her well, she may just stay on. And she is just as excited to be back with us. She is bringing tons of Easter offerings: $5 to $20 Easter Baskets for kids, friends or office workers who you just might want to recognize; and peeps, bunnies, and other marshmallows cutouts. Chocolate bunnies, eggs, marshmallows, turtles, and for breads, carrot cake, lemon pound cake, zucchini bread, banana and nut bread.

Shelby of Cakes by Shelby will have also cute and tasty Easter-basket goodies for the kids -- check out the eggs on her table. And be sure to pick up beautiful tulips from our new flower vendors.

Try the new ground-meat mix at Lothar’s Gourmet Sausages that Lothar is now selling to Loudoun County restaurants and at our market. He is grinding together 70 percent beef, 20 percent pork, and 10 percent nitrate-free bacon, and he promises that it makes a great burger -- or meatloaf, I imagine. I am buying some this week and will report back, maybe with a recipe next week. Please let me know what you think via email (just reply to this email) or post it on our Facebook page.

Blue Dog BBQ will be prepared for the rush this week. He thought the less-than-glorious weather would dampen our numbers last week, but he should know better than that by now. We should have a good day this Sunday, and Mike should have a full smoker, so stock up for your Monday Final Four Feast or just enjoy the day off from cooking.

And speaking of eggs, our handouts on eggs and the egg recipes were very popular last week -- we will have more this week. Remember that we have fresh country eggs in two locations in the market now: at Sally’s Rainbow Acres Farm stand and back with Tyson Farms and Orchards amid the apples and great winter greens.

We will be closed Easter Sunday but will reopen April 15 with several of our new vendors. We will continue to add vendors to our merry market throughout May.

See you at the market!!
