Lawrence Earl Nail, 104, of Gainesville, passed away May 6, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Born March 23, 1910 in Duck Hill, MS, he was the son of the late Joseph and Minnie Lott Nail. In August of 1934 in Lorton, VA, he married the former Jean Shephard, who preceded him in July, 1990.

Mr. Nail was a sub-contractor in the Lorton and Northern Virginia area for many years. He was a member of the Pohick Episcopal Church, where he served on the Vestry and many different committees. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge #310, Occoquan Post where he served as a past Master.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Ned, Fred, Miller, and William Nail; and four sisters, Hester Jones, Fannie Harville, Jimmie Lou Holland, Mae Lindsey; Survivors include his loving daughter and care giver, Kay Skelton of Gainesville; one brother, Ray Nail of Battlecreek, MI; three grandchildren, Larry Skelton and his wife Ginger; Brooks Skelton and his wife Lisa; Keely Pavone and her husband Roy; four great-grandchildren, Todd Skelton and his wife Kelsey; Nicholas and Jacob Pavone; Christina Dunnington; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

The family will receive friends on Sunday May 11, 2014 from 2-4 p.m. at the Baker-Post Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 10001 Nokesville Road, Manassas. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, May 12, 2014 11:00 a.m., at the Pohick Episcopal Church, 9301 Richmond Hwy, Lorton, VA 22079.

Interment will immediately take place in the church cemetery.
