Mae Shortt Merchant, age 90 of Manassas, VA passed away at her residence on Monday, March 31, 2014.

She was preceded in death by her husband Wilson Caton Merchant, Jr and is survived by her children Linda Mae Merchant Bell, Carol Merchant Kirby and Dr. Wilson Caton Merchant, III; a brother Vincent Keith Shortt, her grandchildren Melinda Mae Nugent, Vincent Vernon Bell, Armistead Burwell, III, Carter Hamilton Burwell, Caroline Ruth Burwell, Caton Merchant Burwell, Michela Marie Merchant and Christina Marie Merchant; her great grandchildren Sarah Katherine Bell, Caroline Gentry Bell, Melissa Mae Bell, Spencer Merchant Bell, Wilson Davis Bell, Caton Christopher Andrew Berry, Connor David Jackson Berry, Chloe Grace Nugent, Josephine Sayre Burwell, Quinn Powell Burwell, Wilson Carter Burwell, Beatrice Sage Burwell, Armistead Lee Burwell, Churchill Caton Burwell, Juliet Mae Burwell and Annabel Louise Burwell; her step grandchildren Carl Wayne Bell, Jr, Michael Travis Bell, Charise Deabreau Kirby, Patrick Mangan Kirby and Celia Kirby George and by her step great grandchildren Kara Lynn Bell, Travis Giddens Bell, Mary Margaret Bell, Catherine Elizabeth Kirby,Matthew Mangan Kirby, Claire Therese George and Peter Robert George.

The family will receive friends at Manassas Baptist Church Chapel of the Good Shepherd, 8730 Sudley Road, Manassas, VA on Monday, April 7, 2014 from 12:30 PM until service time at 2:00 PM. Interment Stonewall Memory Gardens.
