Richard Yanick, 79

Richard Grant Yanick, 79, of Manassas, Virginia, passed away on April 11, 2014 at his home after a long illness.

He was born on December 28, 1934, to Robert and Rosella Taylor Yanick in Miller Farms, PA.

Richard is survived by his wife of 58 years, Antoinette; two daughters, Debora Olin (Thomas) or Louisa, VA and Antoinette Johnson (Carter) of Manassas; one son, Robert Yanick (Crystal) of Louisa, VA; four brothers, Ronald Yanick (Bertha)of Shippensburg, PA, Randy Yanick (Alice)of Masontown, PA, Rodney Yanick (Jamie) of Kenly, NC. Regis Yanick (Leona) of Manassas; two sisters, Rosalene Jonette of Manassas and Rhea (Byran) Christian of Strasburg, VA; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; one brother, Robert Yanick; one son, Richard Yanick.

Richard was a great provider, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a big Pittsburgh Steelers fan. After his retirement, Richard enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, going for walks and was known for his generosity and kindness. He was always willing to help others. His wife and family was his top priority, and made sure his wife was taken care of right up to the end. He was dedicated to his work. On December 21, 1999, upon his retirement, Richard received a Commendation from the Board of County Supervisors for more than eighteen years of service.

He will be missed and loved very much and will forever live and be in our hearts.

Service and inurnment will be private and at a later date.
