1 Dead in Manassas-Area Tractor Trailer Crash

The crash happened at Dumfries and Hoadly Roads in the Manassas-area of the county.

One person is dead following an early morning crash on Monday at Dumfries and Hoadly Roads in the Manassas area of Prince William County. 

Donald Stephen Rinker, 57, of Strasburg, Va. died on Tuesday, one day after the crash. 

It happened at 5:25 a.m. when Rinker's car struck the back of a 1996 Peterbilt 378 tractor trailer as it made its way southbound on Dumfries Road at the Hoadly Road intersection.

Rinker was the driver and the only person inside the 2011 Toyota Corolla.  He was flown to an area hospital where he succumb to the injuries suffered in the crash. 

Alcohol nor drugs are thought to be factors in the crash, but police did say the Toyota was traveling above a safe speed.

The driver of the tractor trailer, a 41-year-old man of Manassas, was not injured.
