Babysitter Who Murdered Toddler to Appear in Court This Month

A woman who pleaded guilty to murdering the child she was hired to care for will appear in a Manassas courtroom on Monday, Jan. 13 for sentencing. 

Jessica Fraraccio, 22, of Manassas pleaded guilty in October to felony child abuse and felony murder charges  in connection with the death of her 23-month-old charge, Elijah Nealey, at his family's Manassas home in August 2012. 

Those charges carry a maximum sentence of 50 years, Commonwealth's Attorney Paul Ebert said in an earlier report. 
 
Elijah's father, Michael Nealey, said that Fraraccio, originally told Manassas Police that Elijah's death was an accident, but an investigation later revealed otherwise.

An extensive Manassas Police investigation later revealed the boy died of suffocation and the babysitter was arrested in March 2013 and indicted in May 2013. 
At some point, Fraraccio told police she’d smothered Elijah by putting her hand over his month because he was misbehaving as she tried to feed him, Michael Nealey told Patch in an earlier report.

Fraraccio also faced a child abuse charge but as part of a plea agreement, prosecutors decided not to pursue it. Michael Nealey said he and his family are happy a plea agreement was reached and a jury trial was avoided.
